Everyone has a calling, follow YOUR passion

“The most courageous act is to think for yourself, aloud.” - coco chanel

As i mentioned in an earlier blog about following in your parents footsteps it doesn’t always go as planned. I have a lot of friends that do exactly what their parents did. Whether that be a rancher, farmer, outfitter, mechanic or home builder. Then there is the few of us that started to follow in the same footsteps and then hit a slight detour, maybe to the right where nothing is left or the the left where nothing was right. Either way you have to follow your passion. If it is something that sets your soul on fire then go for it! Too much of our time is spent pretending to be something were not. If we hate our 9-5 jobs then this is the time to switch it up. How many times have you looked on social media and thought, “That person looks so cool, i wish i had her/his life?” The amount of followers that person has does not make them amazing, you can be amazing all on your own without 1,000 followers. So guess what, you can have that life if it’s something you truly want. It is the people that you meet in the most unlikely spots that started from scratch and had one simple idea in their head, they stuck to it and now look at them. I have always wanted to have my own flying company but with my summer’s completely booked with flying for my parents i never had the push i needed, until now. After the sale of my families business it gave me the opportunity to branch out and finally say “hey” there is no better time then right now! I think the saying also goes, “if i didn’t do this now, then i would always wonder what it would have been like.” Life is always full of risks, that will never change unless you’re a full time couch potato and then the only risk you have to take is to lose the remote between the couch cushions. That actually could be quite stressful for some people, so maybe i shouldn’t joke about that.

A lot of my friends that guide year round are so obsessed with the next guiding job that they will only be able to sleep in their own bed around 20 days in a year. I personally think that’s awesome, something that they can love doing that much and even if it’s not the best paying career out there it’s what drives them. I would love to say that it isn’t all about how much money you’re making, but lets all face it… money isn’t such a bad thing to have an abundance of. There has to be some end result to our madness though, but I guess what I am getting at is that it’s important not to settle. Work hard, and even harder if you are starting your own business. Not everyone will believe in your dream, only you have to! Most humans are motivated by progress. The achievement and the accomplishments we make are the reward. So if you are sitting at home or at a job you can’t stand to be at remember you are the only one that can make a change in your life.
